FSU Snaps 3-Game Skid; Beats Pittsburgh 61-52

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Xavier Rathan-Mayes scored 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting as Florida State finished the regular season above .500 with a 61-52 win over Pittsburgh.

Kiel Turpin had 10 points and five rebounds as FSU (16-15, 8-10 Atlantic Coast Conference) halted a three-game losing streak.

Jamel Artis had 17 points for Pittsburgh (19-13, 8-10). But Michael Young, who had averaged 22 points over his last three games, struggled in making just 3 of 12 shots for eight points.

Montay Brandon added 10 points and six rebounds for FSU, which shot 19 of 40 (47.5 percent) from the floor.

Josh Newkirk scored 12 points for Pittsburgh, which shot just 19 of 57 (32.3 percent) from the floor. The Panthers misfired from beyond the 3-point arc, making just 5 of 21 (23.8 percent) of their shots.

FSU won despite committing 19 turnovers. The Seminoles claimed the rebounding edge 37-28.
