Former Band Director Pleads Guilty To Identity Theft

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A former Opa-locka school band director has pleaded guilty to identity theft charges.
Delvis Demaine Rogers, 27, also agreed to pay restitution to the government of more than $129,000. Court documents show Rogers had thousands of stolen personal identities in his Hollywood apartment when authorities conducted a search in January 2014.
Rogers admitted in his plea to filing hundreds of fraudulent income tax returns using the identities.
Before his directing job in Opa-locka, Rogers was was an assistant band director at a Plantation high school.
Sentencing is set for October 23rd. Rogers faces a mandatory term of two years in prison, with a possible additional 10-year term.
