Food Shelves Bare At Broward Salvation Army

BROWARD (CBSMiami) - The Salvation Army of Broward County is in dire need of food supplies.

"Our shelves have never been this empty. There are at least 100 people a week who rely on us to help feed their families and they need our help," said the Director of Development Sally Gress in a written statement.

A photo released by the Salvation Army shows barren shelves.

The Salvation Army is asking for people to donate whatever they can. Food donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army, 1445 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

They need nonperishable food items such as canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, crackers, cereal, pasta and pasta sauce.
