Florida Teen Facing Murder Charges In ATM Robbery Turns Down Plea Deal
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man accused of murdering another man during an ATM robbery turned down a plea deal.
It means that Marcine Hill will go on trial beginning October 21st.
"This took my life. Nothing is the same. Nothing is the same," Sandy Steve said.
She is the mother of the victim and talked during the plea hearing for her son's accused killer.
"I don't want him out because I don't want him to do this to someone else. Another mother. Another parent," the heartbroken mother said.
During the statement, the judge turned over to Hill to reprimand him.
"Mr Hill. I will not tolerate. I don't want to hear another reaction from you," the judge said.
It's not clear what Hill said or did.
Hill was arrested in November of 2017 and charged with the murder of Dillon Steve.
Police say Steve was using an ATM at a Bank of America in North Miami Beach when Hill, who was 17 years old at the time, shot and killed him.
The victim's mother was waiting in the car nearby while her son was withdrawing cash.
Hill has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
"With him not being there for birthday and holidays, it kills me each time. It's not fair that his mother still sees him," Steve said.
Hill turned down two options. One would've kept him in prison for 25 years and ten years probation. The other option was to stay in prison for 30 years without probation.
Relatives of the victim approved the deal because they don't want that mom taking the stand and reliving the night her son was killed.
But now, she will prepare to talk about that night in front of a jury. Hill faces life in prison, if convicted.
