TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — Florida's Republican-controlled Legislature will meet in a one day session Tuesday to swear in new members and install Rep. Richard Corcoran as the next House speaker and Sen. Joe Negron as the next Senate president.

All 160 seats were up for grabs in the November elections.

Both Corcoran and Negron are promising to enact sweeping changes when legislators hold their 60-day regular session in March.

Negron wants to boost money to universities and do more to battle water pollution that's caused toxic algae blooms along the state's two coastlines.

Corcoran will ask the House to adopt new restrictions on lobbyists, including a ban on lobbyists using emails or text messages to reach out to legislators when they are about to vote.
