Flooding Overtakes South Florida Streets

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- With a sunny start to the day, Saturday quickly became a gloomy, soggy day with flooding overtaking some South Florida streets.
Flooded sidewalks and flooded streets made it tough to walk or drive in Hallandale.
"The cars would go by, and I mean they were just throwing waves up in here," said Ray Cronk. "Another two inches it would've been in the building. We just missed it. We got lucky."

Not everyone was so lucky. Vehicles were stranded by high flood waters.
Others were basically locked out of their homes.
"People can't get to their homes. We have tons of cars here parked - people who can't park in their driveways - along the street. People are paying money to live in these homes and they can't even get to their houses," said Stephen Blake.
Near North Miami, some cars drove through water up to their headlights.
"I'm trying to drive slow right now because I don't know if my car can take all that water. It's a lot of water," said Della Peter.
