MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Fred is still a tropical storm, but is expected to degenerate into a remnant low on Thursday.
As of 11 p.m, the center of the system was located about 665 miles west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands. Its maximum sustained winds have stayed at 40 mph. Fred's forward speed is still 10 mph.
Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center.
Additional weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Fred is expected to degenerate into a remnant low on Thursday.
Since it is not threatening any land masses, there are no watches or warnings posted for it.
