DAVIE (CBSMiami) – Ndamukong Suh is the new monster in the middle of the Dolphins defensive line. The team signed him in the offseason to a mammoth 6-year deal worth $114 million.
It's the biggest contract ever for a defensive player in the NFL. Suh aims to prove he's worth it.
"I want to bring a wrecking ball mentality on every play, be a disruptive player, and also be a leader," he said.
During five seasons in Detroit, Suh earned the reputation of being a talented player who sometimes went too far. He racked up more than $400,000 in fines, but Suh bristles at the notion of being dirty.
"I would say I'm a very physical player. Some people who don't really know the game sometimes voice their opinions about things that are not really so," he said.
Suh was raised in Portland, Oregon. His mother is Jamaican, his father from Cameroon.
On the personal side, he keeps mostly to himself. His idea of a good time is reading a good business book. Billionaire Warren Buffet is a mentor who helped advise Suh on signing with the Dolphins.
The defensive tackle says he sees the Dolphins as a franchise on the way up, with an owner in Stephen Ross who is hungry to win.
Suh is eager to dominate, and anxious to help the Dolphins franchise regain its lost glory.
