Feds Charge 21 Alleged Members Of Miami Gang

MIAMI (AP) — Federal prosecutors say 21 people are charged with numerous offenses in a crackdown on a violent Miami street gang known as the "Big Money Team."

Miami U.S. Attorney Wifredo Ferrer said Wednesday the charges include racketeering that involved carjacking, drug dealing, obstruction of justice, robbery, assault and prostitution. Authorities say the gang operated in Miami's Little Havana and Allapattah neighborhoods.

Among other things, investigators say the gang members used violence and threats to intimidate witnesses and victims.

Three of the 21 charged remained at large Wednesday. The group used a variety of nicknames, including "Young Gunna," ''Dinero Banks," ''Fat Boy" and "Papo L. Desperado."

Most of the suspects face many years in prison if convicted and up to life for some of the charges.
