Family Of Woman Killed In Home Invasion Asks For Help In Finding Killer

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The family of a mother of three who was killed inside her northwest Miami-Dade home during a suspect home invasion robbery attempt are doing all they can to bring her killers to justice.

On Monday, they passed out flyers in their neighborhood and the surrounding community asking for help.

Two masked man stormed into Atavia Jones' home at 2443 N.W. 90th Street last Tuesday around 8 a.m. with guns blazing.  Jones, 38, who was hit multiple times, died before help could arrive.

Namor Jones, the victim's brother, is pleading for the public's help.

"These gunmen shouldn't be out there running around on the street," said Jones.

Jones said two years ago he lost another sister in a violent act. Police said Shuneeque Jones died after she was stabbed 55 times by 25-year-old next-door neighbor Emile Senghor.

Shuneeque Jones, coincidentally, was also 38 years old when her life was taken.

Jones said his sister had two daughters who are 9 and 15 and said her 20-year-old son is in the U.S. Army.

Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
