HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – One of the women mauled by two ferocious dogs in Hollywood spoke exclusively with CBS4 for the first time about that terrifying encounter.

Bandaged and bruised, Christine Bradford says her wounds will heal but her heart is forever broken.

"My dog meant everything to me. I went nowhere without her," she sobbed to CBS4 News Reporter Joan Murray.

Bradford survived a vicious dog attack last Friday in Hollywood, but her beloved terrier named Roxie was killed.

It happened near her RV home on Buchanan Street.

Police said a neighbor's two large American Bulldogs, named Daisy and Duke, escaped and pounced on Bradford and Roxie.

"I'm yelling help me. Somebody help us!" Bradford explained. "I put my hand in its mouth. The other grabbed my leg and started to gnaw on it… they wouldn't stop! They threw me into a truck but it was too late, my dog was gone."

Her friend, Regina Potter, heard the screaming and tried to intervene. She was also mauled – her arm nearly severed.

"And the minute she started to talk, the one dog pushed her down on the ground," Bradford said. "You can't get up once it gets you down."

Potter remains in the intensive care unit at Memorial Regional Hospital after undergoing several surgeries.

The owner of the bulldogs was fined more than $3,000 for the dog bites.

Broward Animal Control has Daisy and Duke quarantined, but they will be returned to their owner next week.

The dogs will have to wear muzzles anytime they are outdoors.

"I think he raised two murderers… not raised them to be dogs, but to kill other things," Bradford said.

Bradford has staples in her arm and leg from the bites. But her pain runs deep, beyond the physical.

"I felt like I've been hit by a Mack Truck," she said. "This will heal... but my dog I won't get back."
