MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Six youngsters continue to recover after being shot at a Sweet 16 birthday party in South Miami Heights over the weekend, according to authorities.
"It was just so many babies out here on the ground. The blood is still on the corner out on the sidewalk," said the mother who was hosting the Sweet 16 birthday party for her daughter.
The woman does not want to be identified but spoke with CBS4 News about what happened.
"I opened the door not knowing my baby was the first one on the floor saying he was shot," said the mother, whose 13-year-old son was shot six times.
Miami-Dade police responded to the home off SW 119th Avenue and 205th Street Saturday around 10:30 p.m.
"Some of the kids asked me for something to eat and I went inside the house, fixed like 10 plates and before I get to the door, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!" said the mother.
The woman says there were at least 75 kids at the party – all minors. She says she ran outside when the shots rang out.
"My kids, they get along with kids in school. They don't have no problems. And I guess the company that was invited got into it with somebody and brought the problem here," said the woman.
The mother says to her horror the shooters came back a second time.
"When they were shooting they drove around, shot boom, boom, boom, then came back around and shot again," she said.
According to police, the six youngsters were rushed to area hospitals.
Family members told CBS4 News 17-year-old Andre Foster and 16-year-old Kiondae Wilson are two of the six victims.
The mother is asking for the public's help in finding those responsible.
"We just need justice. We need to know who did this to our babies, all the babies that got shot," she said.
