MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – The 19-year-old daughter of a security guard, who was gunned down at a Miami Gardens strip club, is speaking out, saying she is "very mad" and wants "justice" and anyone with information about the case to come forward.
"I am very mad," said Maydelyn Salgueiro in an exclusive interview with CBS4's Peter D'Oench.
Salgueiro's 41-year-old father Wilber Salgueiro and fellow security guard, 34-year-old David Hilbert, were shot and killed outside the Mint Lounge around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
It happened at N.W. 187TH St. and N.W. 27th Avenue next to City Hall and the future home of Miami Gardens Police.
"I just really want justice for him," said Salgueiro. "I just want anybody that has information to please come forward and not be afraid and just give justice for my family, especially for me. Please come forward and tell us everything. That would mean a lot to me. It really would."
Salgueiro's father served more than four years as a U.S. Marine, which included duty overseas. She told D'Oench she never thought her father would lose his life this way back home in South Florida.
"He was a loving dad," she said. "My grandparents never expected my dad to die like that before them. They just shot him like it was nothing."
She said her father and Hilbert were trying to break up a fight and were removing a woman from the club what was causing problems.
"A security guard is supposed to protect people," people she said. "It was all about my dad and another person working there. They were trying to take out a girl that was causing problems. They just shot him. A girl and boyfriend were involved. They just shot my father in two legs and shot him in his head. I heard two times.
There have been other incidents at the club.
In March, police said an argument that started at the club led to a man being shot dead later in the night.
In 2010, detectives said one man was killed and two others were injured when an argument lead to gunfire
Salgueiro does not understand why her father was shot.
"He was a very respectful man," she said. "I never thought this would happen to him at all. Everyone loved my dad. I mean everyone loved my dad."
Now, at the age of 19, Salgueiro is speaking out for her older brother, parents and grandparents.
"I am trying to be strong for my family. My grandparents are not taking it goo. My brother is not taking it good. So I guess I have to take over for my dad now."
On Tuesday, CBS4 spoke with the family of David Hilbert.
His cousin, Roberta Hilbert, said, "He just lost his life for no reason. It happened over stupid stuff. He was a fun type family man. He was just a person that believed in working, just a hard working person."
Hilbert's cousin, Cassandra Hilbert, said, "It's sad. They need to put the guns down and stop shooting. They're killing innocent people."
Miami Gardens Police have not commented since the day of the shooting.
Family members have been told two suspects are in custody and one of the gunmen is still on the loose.
Anyone with information that can help police should call them at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
There's a reward of up to $3,000 in this case.
Maydelyn Salgueiro said her family is trying to raise money to pay for her father's burial. Anyone who would like to contribute can visit the family's GoFundMe page.
