Evan Mathis Released; Will the Miami Dolphins Pursue?
An Pro Bowl-caliber offensive guard is available if the Miami Dolphins are looking for an immediate solution on the interior offensive line.
The Philadelphia Eagles parted ways with 33-year-old Evan Mathis on Thursday, per NFL Network, after failing to find a trade suitor since before the NFL Draft. The two-time Pro Bowler stayed away from the team during OTAs in search of a new contract.

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said it never seemed like a "strong possibility" that the Dolphins were going to acquire him via trade. The question now becomes whether Miami, fresh off shelling out beefy contracts to Ndamukong Suh, Mike Pouncey, and Ryan Tannehill, will be willing to offer Mathis a deal he desires, one that would likely make him among the NFL's highest paid guards.
According to Pro Football Focus, he may be worth it.
In each of the last three seasons he graded out among the top two players at the guard position. Fox Sports' Alex Marvez labeled Mathis a "guy to watch" for Miami before training camp opens next month.
The Dolphins currently have Dallas Thomas slated to start at one of the guard spots after struggling throughout his rookie season.
