MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins are making moves this week.
A day after reports emerged that the team had signed starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen to a 5 year deal worth $80 million, Miami has added more depth to its pitching staff.
The Marlins have signed veteran right-hander Edwin Jackson to a one-year deal.
Jackson saw success as a starter early in his career but has been used mostly out of the bullpen in recent seasons.
Last season Jackson made 47 relief appearances for the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. He finished the year with a 3.07 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP in 55.2 innings pitched.
Over his career Jackson has made 340 appearances, 262 of which were starts, earning a record of 88-107.
The Marlins also signed infielder Chris Johnson to a one-year deal. He will make the league minimum.
