WILTON MANORS (CBSMiami) -- A drifter walked into a police station and confessed to the murder of a Wilton Manors man from more than a decade before, according to deputies.
Authorities arrested Joshua Odom, 38, on August 25th for the death of 70-year old Richard Busey back in 2002.
Investigators say Odom joined Busey in his Wilton Manors apartment for drinks and sex. Once inside, Busey's apartment Odom reportedly decided to kill and rob him in order to buy drugs.
The murder went unsolved until August 11th. That's when Odom walked into a police station in Des Moines, Iowa and confessed to the killing, deputies said.
The detective was able to get details of the murder and pass it on to law enforcement agencies in South Florida. Another detective from Wilton Manors reviewed the case and saw that Odom's confession aligned with the details of Busey's death.
Odom was later arrested and has since been taken into BSO custody. He is now facing two charges of first-degree murder and theft.
