Downed powerline caused traffic nightmare on SR 826
MIAMI - Drivers were stuck in a traffic nightmare Friday afternoon on a portion of State Road 826.
All were blocked in both directions due to a downed powerline near NW 47th Avenue.
The traffic jam extended back to Red Rd / NW 57th Ave. All traffic was diverted off the highway at NW 47th Avenue.
By 5 p.m., traffic was once again flowing normally.
FPL released the following statement regarding the incident:
"We are aware of a downed power line on Palmetto Expressway. FPL crews are onsite actively working to remove our line safely and as quickly as possible. We understand there may be telecommunications equipment on the roadway as well. This incident does not appear to be weather-related."
