MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- After the Miami Dolphins made Adam Gase the 12th head coach in franchise history, CBS4's Donna Rapado took a listen to what fans thought of the move.

"A 37-year-old offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, he's up and coming. He's a hot commodity right now," said Ken Jenkins, who said he's satisfied with the signing.

Before Chicago, Gase was an offensive coordinator and QB Coach for the Denver Broncos, who helped Peyton Manning break several passing records in 2013, including single-season yards (5,477) and touchdowns (55). Manning earned his fifth NFL MVP that year.

Fans are hoping he could do the same for Miami QB Ryan Tannehill.

"He's a good molder of quarterbacks. So, I think Tannehill will be in good hands. I think it's a good move for the Dolphins," said Jenkins.

Others hope Gase will lead to a more consistent and stable era of Dolphins football.

"You go through coaches like a carousel. Sooner or later you have to settle down and stop being so quick in your decisions. Just take your time, get someone who knows the whole process before you say, 'oh, I got a new coach,'" said Larry Newton.

Only time will tell, although fans have been here before. But every offseason adds a sense of optimism to the team. Right now, at least, spirits are high.

"It's something they should've done a long time ago. They gotta find someone that's gonna get the team to where they should be," said Tim Babler.
