Dolphins Dealt Big Loss, Knowshon Moreno Out For A Month
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Miami Dolphins suffered more than just a game loss Sunday. The team has reported Knowshon Moreno will miss four to eight weeks with an elbow injury.
The Dolphins were heralded by experts for their off-season acquisition of Moreno. When Moreno shredded the New England Patriots for 134 yards rushing and a touchdown in his first game for the Fins, fans could see why he was highly touted.
Moreno would not be able to repeat that stellar performance on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
On his first touch of the game, Moreno was tackled by Nickell Robey and Nigel Bradham. Moreno had planted his left arm to stay upright and keep driving forward, but Bradham's angle of attack bent his arm in ways it should not.
Moreno clutched his wrist after the injury, but it was later revealed he dislocated his elbow. It is still uncertain if he has a hairline fracture.
The four to eight weeks he will miss is a huge blow to the Dolphins, especially since Lamar Miller apparently injured his leg late in the fourth quarter. He did manage to get up and walk off the field on his own.
The team will now turn to undrafted free agent Damien Williams and Miller as the primary running backs.
The Dolphins' first test without Moreno will come Sunday, September 21st, at home against the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:25 p.m.
