Distraught Dad Seeks Answers About Son's Mysterious Disappearance
MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – The search continues Monday for 24-year-old Jorge David Reyes, who remains missing after disappearing two weeks ago in Miami Beach.
His father walked the same route Monday afternoon believed to be where Jorge was last seen. His dad passed out flyers and asked if anyone had seen his missing son Jorge.
Jorge Reyes Sr. started his quest for answers at the Lost Weekend Bar on the 200 block of Espanola Way and ended up a block and a half away at The Five Guys Burger and Fries restaurant on Washington Avenue. That's where the younger Jorge was last spotted.
Reyes disappeared in the early morning hours of Monday, April 7th. His cell phone records show the last call he made was at 12:15 am to a friend.
At 3:30 am, surveillance video outside The Lost Weekend shows that same friend walk out and Jorge was just steps behind him.
Witnesses said the men got on their bikes and left. Jorge reportedly stopped at the Burger shop alone.
Jorge's father said his son hasn't made a call or sent a text to any of his friends or family members since. There haven't been any Facebook postings either.
"He plays soccer on two different soccer teams, nobody has seen him," explained his father. "He goes to jujitsu classes at the gym, nobody has seen him. He plays music in a band called Bikini Jazz, nobody has talked to him or seen him."
Police are concerned.
"His family let us know that he had just broken up with his girlfriend, just lost his job, and because of that, he turned to alcohol and drugs which is a concern to us and the family," said Vivian Thayer of the Miami Beach Police Department.
Jorge's father also said his son's cell phone was found inside the bar he was last seen leaving about a week after his disappearance.
"I need to know where is my son," said his distraught father. "I know somebody out there knows what happened to my son."
Reyes is 6'02" and weighs about 200 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a green Oakley shirt, beige shorts and flip flops.
If you have any information on Jorge's whereabouts, you're asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
