MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- He's someone many would consider a bad cop but he's now being credited for saving the day during a bank robbery.

A disgraced former police sergeant is awaiting sentencing after he was found guilty of falsely imprisoning a man who wanted to file a complaint against him.

In June, a jury found German Bosque guilty of two felonies: false imprisonment and tampering with a witness. Bosque was convicted of trying to stop a man from filing a complaint against him, as he served as a sergeant with the Opa-locka Police Department. He's since been fired from the department.

"Sure you miss it," said Bosque. "The law enforcement, you miss serving, the brotherhood, the fun."

Bosque was also fired from the police department several times before, but was able to get his job back. Monday, the former officer was opening a bank account at a TD Bank in Miami Lakes, when he said the bank staff became alarmed.

"Then I hear, 'He just robbed us. He just robbed us,'" said Bosque.

Bosque watched the bank robber walk out and decided to take action.

"I immediately pulled out my phone. I called 911 and I got in my truck and followed."

Bosque says he followed the robber and another man to a nearby store, even though Bosque wasn't armed and didn't know if the two men were.

"They realized I was following them, and then it became like a small, little chase," said Bosque.

Davion Clark was arrested by police. Clark has a lengthy criminal history, including previous burglary charges.

Bosque could be doing hard time, too. Although Bosque's legal team offered the interview in exchange for not bringing up his legal troubles, this is what he said when asked why he gave CBS4 an interview.

"There's been such negative things said that it's always good to have positive thing said."

In the next few weeks, Bosque is scheduled to be sentenced.  He could get probation or up to ten years in prison.
