FORT MYERS (CBSMiami/AP) — Police officers will use all kinds of methods to catch criminals.

Detectives in southwest Florida say a telltale wig helped them catch an armed robber.

Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies said after a convenience store in Fort Myers, Florida was robbed Saturday, a cashier gave them a description of a pistol-wielding robber who was wearing a wig and a gray hoodie.

Witnesses led deputies to an apartment complex, where they say they found a suspect who matched the description given by the cashier.

Deputies say when they searched the apartment after obtaining a warrant, they found a gray-hooded sweater, several wigs and a large amount of wadded up cash in an open dresser drawer.

The suspect, David Rodriguez, faces a robbery charge.

Online court records show he was in jail Sunday. There was no record of legal counsel.
