Police investigate body found in pick-up truck on Palmetto Expressway

Death investigation led to closure on Palmetto Expressway

MIAMI - A death investigation is underway after the body of a man was found in a truck parked on the side of the Palmetto Expressway on Monday.

The find triggered a section of State Road 826/Palmetto Expressway to be closed off to traffic.

The northbound lanes between Okeechobee Road and NW 103rd Street were closed at around 12:30 p.m.  By 2 p.m., several lanes had opened and only the two right ones were blocked, with stop-and-go traffic backed up to NW 36th Street.

Chopper4 images spotted a pick-up truck parked on the right shoulder with a yellow tarp covering the driver's side window.

Several law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene, including the Florida Highway Patrol and Hialeah Police.

Police continue to investigate.

If you know anything related to this incident, police are asking you to call Crimestoppers of Miami-Dade at 305-471-tips.
