Deadly Triple Shooting In Deerfield Beach

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) - A Broward sheriff's SWAT team rolled up and served a search warrant at a home where a triple shooting occurred early Wednesday morning.

With guns drawn they made their way in. A little while later, they came back out. No one appeared to be with them.

It was just before 2 a.m. when that gunfire erupted in the 600 block of NE 40th Street in Deerfield Beach.

"Whatever happened at that time, it was a legit, gunfire, gunfight," said one neighbor.

It woke some neighbors who dove for the floor.

"We were just in the house, whatever, and we just hear gunshots, we like 'what's going on.' It seemed close. So we just started ducking in the house. We didn't know, we just like peep through the window," said another neighbor.

Down the street, another neighbor heard a volley of shots back and forth.

"It was big boy guns. It sounded like AKs. The first round of guns, you hear the spray, pause, you hear the return fire of what sounded like a smaller set of guns, like a handgun and then another round of return fire, smaller gun and pause," said a neighbor who did not want to be identified.

He said he is certain it was an assault weapon he heard.

"They were solid assault weapons. There's a certain deepness when those go off, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, you know, those definitely assault weapons," he said.
