Drive-By Shooting Leaves Two Dead In NW Miami-Dade

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – Two people are dead following a drive-by shooting in Northwest Miami-Dade Wednesday night.

The shooting happened at 9528 NW 22nd Ave. in West Little River, according to Miami-Dade Police.

One person died on the scene and the other died after being transported to the hospital.

At least four people inside a vehicle approached the victims and someone inside the vehicle opened fire, according to police.

The vehicle then sped away.

Local residents gave police a description of the car and they attempted to stop it.

"That vehicle slowed down, three people exited and tried to flee. We apprehended one of those people and are looking for the other two," according to Detective Lee Cowart.  "The vehicle then continued another ten blocks and then the vehicle crashed into an unrelated vehicle."

The driver was detained. So two people are in custody while two remain on the loose.

Police have not released the names of the victims.
