Day 2 Of Miami NFT Week Conference Welcomed Billionaire Mark Cuban
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Day 2 of the Miami NFT Week Conference in Wynwood continued to attract hundreds, including billionaire investor Mark Cuban.
Back in January of this year, Cuban also attended The North American Bitcoin Conference held in Miami Beach.
Cuban took the stage and said Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is going an amazing job making Miami crypto central.
"Miami crowd is completely different, I've never heard hooting and hollering and screaming you know it was like a party talking about NFTs' so it's a completely different environment and the mayor deserves a lot of credit," said Cuban.
As Forbes explains it, NFTs is essentially a digital asset that represents real-world objects.
It's a popular way to buy and sell digital artwork, frequently purchased with cryptocurrency.
NFTs are non-fungible tokens that have exploded in the past years, and it was evident Friday, during the first day of the conference held at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center as thousands made their way to the gathering.
"In terms of crypto, I'm not surprised it's blown up at all I think it's going to get a lot of bigger, I think this is just the first inning," said Cuban.
Craig Skilling, a director of innovation technology from Florida Memorial University says NFT's or digital art is a part of our future and it's not going anywhere.
"Digital art is now a place where anybody can go ahead and monetize, this is going to change the way we do business it already has," said Craig Skilling.
While there are people who may doubt it, Skilling says if you're not considering a strategy that involves cryptocurrency, you're going to be left behind.
Cuban echoing that.
"It reminds me a whole lot of the early days of the internet where people dismissed the website. So that's where we're at, we're still in the early days of crypto and it's just going to get bigger"
The NFT conference goes from April 1 -3rd at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center.
Big names in tech have been speaking at the event.
