DAVIE (CBSMiami) -- A month ago a Davie teen learned a hard life lesson when someone stole his new hoverboard. Today, a Miramar company made sure that teen learned a different lesson -- in generosity.
Justin, 15, said he was riding his hoverboard near his Davie home when someone stopped him, asked him questions about it and then stole it. He was crestfallen after saving for months to buy the $600 item.
Earlier this week, Goinnova.com in Miramar contacted CBS4 News and said they wanted to surprise Justin with a new hoverboard to make up for what he went through.
"Surprise," a group yelled as Justin walked in a conference room on Friday afternoon. He thought he was going to the office to help his mom with a package. Instead, he got a big surprise.
"Thank you so much," he told the team at Goinnova.com. "You're very surprised. You never thought someone would do this for you. Very happy."
Will Lenis, the president of Goinnova.com said they wanted to make sure that Justin knew there were good people in the world too who could help make a bad situation better.
"We wanted to extend our holiday spirit to Justin," Lenis said.
Justin's mom, Remy, said she had goosebumps for days after CBS4 News informed her that hoverboard company wanted to do this for her son.
She believes he will not only enjoy his new hoverboard but he'll also see the crime that happened to him in a new light.
"It's amazing that they did this," she said. "There are good people and that he has to believe that you always pay it forward. Just like it happened to him, he should do that for others."
