FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Great news if you've been stuck in traffic on Sheridan Street in Hollywood trying to get to the beach.
Relief is on the way.
The gridlock began January 12th, when the Dania Beach Boulevard bridge was closed for renovations. All traffic heading to the beach was diverted to Sheridan Street and Hollywood Boulevard.
Because of the detour, some days eastbound traffic on Sheridan Street backed all the way up to I-95, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
The $5.75 million renovation project, which included new sidewalk decking and new guardrails, was supposed to be completed March 12th. That was delayed after the contractor, Quinn Construction, discovered that more repairs were needed than expected.
Those repairs are now almost done and the bridge is now scheduled to reopen on April 20th.
