Crews Work To Put Out Hialeah Grass Fire

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) - Fire crews are still working to put out a stubborn grass fire that sparked Thursday.
As of early Friday morning, flames could still be seen in the area west of I-75 in western Hialeah. Forty acres had been burned and 80 percent of the fire was contained.
More than a dozen firefighters from three different agencies battled to control the blaze on Thursday.
By the evening, they were able to contain the fire and believed it had little chance of spreading.
That's a stark difference from earlier that same day when windy conditions and rough terrain were making it difficult for firefighters to control the blaze.
The fire had flared up around 3 p.m.
While the cause of the fire has not been determined, forestry officials said a lot of what was burning were tires and other trash that got dumped.
Forestry officials aren't sure how the trash got there and how long has it been there.
