OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) -- It's going to be a costly cleanup for employees at an Oakland Park beauty shop after a customer drove through the front of the store.
In a matter of seconds, glass and shelves were sent flying inside the Beauty Exchange Beauty Supply Wednesday afternoon, located at 6200 W. Oakland Park Blvd.
Surveillance video shows the driver pulling into a parking space in front of the store, but just as the car rolls into the spot, the driver accelerates right into the storefront.
"All we heard was just glasses breaking and it looked like the shelves were about to fall over," said employee Joanne Ducatel. "Next thing I know, there's a car in the middle of aisle six."
Several customers and staff were inside.
"I thought the building was going to fall down," said Nasir Ahmed. "And I just ran."
Fortunately, the driver wasn't hurt, nor was the passenger and child in the back seat.
"She said, 'I was trying to reverse the car and the car went forward,'" said Ahmed.
This type of thing isn't new to the owners of the beauty store. Three years ago, a car slammed into their Ft. Lauderdale store. Though they've been down this road before, it doesn't make it any easier to clean up.
Considering how close some shoppers were standing to the car accident, the beauty store's situation could have been much uglier.
