MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Scott Conant, award-winning chef, author, and TV personality, can now add a second South Florida restaurant, after his first eatery Scarpetta at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, to his roster—Corsair by Scott Conant at Turnberry Isle Miami.
"The intention of the space if you look around, it's designed beautifully, designed with lots of rustic notes, so it felt like the food needed to take that same tone," Conant said. "It has a little bit of rusticity but there's Mediterranean overtones and it's based on farmhouses in he Mediterranean and France, Italy and the U.S."
Located on the backside of Turnberry's iconic golf course, diners can sit outside and enjoy a view of the greens, or inside in the relaxed-yet-elegant space.
Conant is known for his farm-to-table cooking. His style has been called unexpected and soulful. He's made a name for himself first as a chef, and restaurateur, and also as one of the judges on The Food Network's" hit show, "Chopped."
"I think the camaraderie we have all together, not just the people on TV, but the camera people and everyone that's involved make it work. It's like one big happy family," said Conant.
CBS4's Lisa Petrillo commenced to try the chef's food with his favorite dish.
"I'm a little bit biased but we do a potato gnocchi with tomato basil that's very special" Conant said.
"It's a comfort food" said Petrillo. "It has tons of flavors in that special sauce that Chef Scott is famous for—order the Gnocchi Potato when you come in. Tell them I sent you."
Next up, Petrillo sampled the little neck clams with chorizo.
"So we have the salt with the clams, the smoothness with the potato and flavor with the chorizo," Petrillo said.
And finally, the roasted free-range chicken with polenta and parsnips--a house specialty.
"You think you're getting chicken and it's not just chicken. It's moist. The consistency of parsnips and underneath is wonderful. This is chicken divine," Petrillo said.
Corsair by Scott Conant at Turnberry Miami: easy, breezy, and most definitely delicious. The restaurant is open 7-days a week, breakfast lunch and dinner.
