MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A storm system that hit New England on Monday pulled a cold front all the way down through South Florida and northwest winds dropped our lows into the mid 50s Tuesday morning.

Miami logged 57 degrees while Ft. Lauderdale dipped to 55 degrees. It was even cooler in some of our western suburbs.

While we didn't set any new records, it was about 10 degrees below normal for late March.

The high pressure that helped deliver the cool weather into South Florida was located over southern Alabama. On Tuesday it will shift toward the eastern seaboard. This will turn our winds into the east and milder ocean air will begin arriving by the afternoon.

It will grow steadily warmer throughout the week with highs into the lower 80s tomorrow and the middle 80s for the second half of the week into the weekend.

Rain chances will also be increasing toward the end of the week as the winds turn more into the south and higher humidity overspreads South Florida.

So if you like cooler weather enjoy it fast, it's out of here after today. There are no more cold fronts like this one in sight through early next week.
