Confessed Parkland Shooter Nikolas Cruz Back In Court On Jail Deputy Assault Charges

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Confessed Parkland school shooter, Nikolas Cruz was back in court Monday afternoon for a hearing on assault charges he's facing.

Cruz is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer after deputies say he attacked a sergeant in jail back in 2018.

During the hearing, his defense asked for more time because they are still waiting on surveillance video that shows the alleged incident.

His lawyer says the Broward Sheriff's Office hasn't given them the video.

Prosecutors say this is the first time they have heard of the issue.

The judge ruled she would take some time before the start of the trial to discuss the issue.
