MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A community seeks answers in the tragic loss of an 8-year old girl.

It's been a week since Jada Page was shot when she was playing on the porch of her Miami home. She later died at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Close to a hundred people showed up for a "Justice for Jada" rally. They stood out in the rain, demanding change and begging for answers.

"Yet, we stand here with Jada Page's birthday tomorrow and you got a sucka out there, you got a coward out there, who pulled that trigger," said Santonio Carter, whose 6-year-old son, King Carter, was also killed in crossfire.

But it was a plea from the 8-year-old's mother that would bring tears to this crowd.

"We appreciate everybody coming out for my baby. If she could see all this she would be so excited and appreciate all the love, all the Facebook messages, everything, the text messages, the calls," Rosiland Brown said. "I heard somebody say today that it's Jada day. And that's right, it's Jada day. And I just need some answers, she needs some answers, we all need answers."

It's a position no mother wants to be in, but organizers of this rally are hoping Jada – which they say stands for Justice Always Demands Answers – becomes a movement to stop the gun violence in Miami.

"Please, if anybody out there listening, please just give us peace," said a rally attendee.

Police have not made any arrests in this case. A $25,000 reward is being offered.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers (305) 471-TIPS.
