Coast Guard Finds 5 People From Downed Plane In Bahamas

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Five people, on a plane that went down southeast of the Bahamas, were found okay, floating on a raft late Monday night.

All five people are said to be doing okay after being rescued Monday.

At approximately 7:30 PM, air traffic controllers in Nassau contacted the Coast Guard about a downed single engine Cessna aircraft with five people aboard.

A helicopter crew launched to help search for the plane and passengers.

The aircraft was reported to have taken off from Crooked Islands, Bahamas, en route to Nassau.

Around 10:20 PM, Coast Guard received a report that air crews had located five people floating on a life raft approximately nine nautical miles southeast of Nassau.

All five people were transported back to the Bahamas.

There were no reported injuries.
