Child Riding Bike Hospitalized After Hit & Run In Coral Gables

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – A 9-year-old boy riding his bike in Coral Gables has been hospitalized after a hit-and-run accident Thursday evening.

Coral Gables Police said the accident occurred at the 1100 block of South Greenway Drive at around 6:40 p.m.

The boy's father said they were riding their bikes together when he stopped to look at a sign and got off his bike.

Authorities said a white Honda Civic with a dark colored hood, possibly black, struck the 9- year-old boy as he was standing beside his bicycle. The driver then fled westbound on South Greenway Drive.

The boy was transported to Miami Children's Hospital by Coral Gables Fire Rescue with broken bones and is in stable condition.
