MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has a rushed a child to the hospital after he was left in a hot vehicle.
"This child had been out and about with a family member all day. Upon returning the child was left in the vehicle," explained Miami-Dade police spokesperson Det. Jennifer Capote.
As seen from Chopper4, police were called to the corner home at SW 77th Avenue and 124th Terrace just before 4 p.m.
Paramedics said the 1-year-old was left alone inside the vehicle for more than an hour.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed the child to Baptist Hospital.
CBS4's Hank Tester learned the child did not live in the home and was not with a parent but with another family member.
"Our homicide bureau has taken over this investigation because the child's condition is critical," Capote said. "From what I am being told by the Pinecrest Police Department, the child was responsive when they arrived. The child is in critical condition at the hospital."
Temperatures were in the mid-80s when the little boy was left in the car.
