Child, 1, Shot Inside Car In Southwest Miami-Dade
SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police are investigating a shooting that injured a one-year-old girl Saturday night.
According to officials, Elijah McCarthy, 21, was in his car with the child when he observed a dispute between two people at SW 307 Street and SW 152 Avenue.
The victim then allegedly approached the two people because he knew one of the individuals involved in the dispute.
McCarthy was still in his car.
Police said a subject shot at the vehicle, hitting McCarthy and the one-year-old girl, Ameena Brown, in the car.
McCarthy drove with the toddler to Homestead Hospital.
The toddler was transferred to Ryder Trauma Center where she is listed in stable condition.
Police are searching for the two people involved in the original dispute.
