FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Shoppers and employees at a Fort Lauderdale Home Depot tried to stop a band of thieves, and the chaotic encounter was caught on camera.

The crooks jumped into the car – ready to speed off with a trunk load of stolen hammer drills – but the people at the Home Depot located at 1000 NE 4th Ave. caught on that something was wrong.

"You could tell at this point the cat was out of the bag at this point, they were stealing all this merchandise," Fort Lauderdale Police Department Det. Keven Dupree.

WARNING: The video contains graphic language.

A customer pulled his pickup truck in front of the thieves – trying to block them in. As the shoplifters try to plan their next move, a Home Depot employee put a cart behind them.

However, that did little to stop them – and really

didn't even slow them down – as they rammed into the cart.

The two women and one man take off in a flash, not worried about anyone who might get in their way.

"No concern. If you were in the way, if I was walking down one of these aisles, we probably would have been hit and hurt," said shopper Angela Manchuria.

People at the Home Depot said they were stunned at how bold the crew was and how efficient.

They simply wheeled the shopping cart out to a waiting car, tossed the items in and took off. All of it happened in seconds. They didn't even bother closing the trunk.

If you have any information regarding this incident, you are urged to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-8477.
