CBS Miami Nat Moore Trophy profile: Chaminade-Madonna wide receiver Jeremiah Smith

MIAMI - Each year some of the best high school football players in South Florida play for the chance to win the CBS Miami Nat Moore Trophy.

Today, we profile one of the best players in the nation.

Jeremiah Smith is a name you may not know, but soon you will.

A five star wide receiver, Smith best in the state, one of the best in the country.

But don't let that fool you. He's extremely humble.

"I'm not really cocky. I can really say, I mean on the field, sometimes I do get a little like, like cockiness a little bit," he said.

Chaminade-Madonna Prep has a legacy of success most recently coming off a blowout victory to get their seventh state football title.

"We put a lot of work in the off-season, then we translate that on to the field. I mean, we dominate each and every Friday night. So, I mean, we just really ready to go out and just dominate this season and then win another state title," he added.

Smith is one of the most talented wide receiver prospects to come out of South Florida.

High level grabs with a tall stature, says he's been working on putting on weight and it's evident in the gym.

"So talk to me about like your football career because last year you had a great year. You were only a junior now coming into this year.

You probably have, you know, every college in the world kind of knocking on your doors.

"A five-star number 5 receiver in the country, stuff like that. But I mean, I know this, I don't get into all that stuff. I just focus on the team and stuff like that.

I don't get too big-headed because I know he'd be taken from each, any time any day."

He also runs track. So extremely athletic. That's no question.

And if you ask him, it runs in the family.

Geno Smith is his cousin. He's a second round draft pick in 2013. Currently with the Seahawks.

"I mean, I just want to create something for myself. I mean, he is own person I'm Jeremiah Smith, he's Geno Smith. So I just want to create a name for myself and for me and my family."
