MIAMI (CBSMiami) – While Adrian Leyva remains locked up in jail on two counts of first-degree murder, the owner of a car repair business showed CBS4 surveillance video of Leyva returning to the business in the moments after the murders.
Guillermo Valdes, the owner of the business, said Leyva worked for him and slept in the office.
Leyva is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend Tina Guitierrez and her neighbor Martha Perdomo on August 10th.
The video shows Leyva calmly getting undressed, inspecting his clothes then placing his clothes in a bag. The video then shows Leyva leaving the room.
Hialeah Police wrote in a search warrant that at one point Leyva left the room to place his clothes and shoes in the back of the warehouse.
The owner – Guillermo Valdes – pointed out the car where the clothes and shoes were discovered.
The video later shows Leyva counting what appears to be money then possibly falling asleep.
Hialeah Police say they searched for Leyva for several days before arresting him a few days after the murders on Miami Beach.
Investigators wrote in that warrant, a witness told them that Leyva and Gutierrez were arguing just a few days before her death and Leyva accused her of cheating on him. Valdes says Leyva sounded upset with Gutierrez prior to the murder.
"In the last couple days he sounded like, to me, he was going to kill her," Valdes said.
But Valdes said he did not believe Leyva was capable of such a thing. Hialeah Police say he was.
A search warrant in the case reveals that Hialeah Police believe blood was found on Leyva's shoes and clothes and that "the discarded shoe soles were similar to an impression left in a pool of blood on the scene."
Leyva is being held in jail without bond on two counts of first degree murder.
