MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Hurricanes are on their way to Kentucky for their Sweet 16 matchup against Villanova.
While, they are bound for Louisville, there is no doubt UM'S real goal is to reach Houston – the site of the Final Four.
Coach Jim Larranaga proudly sported his team's Sweet 16 sweatshirts as the team pulled out of Coral Gables.
Senior Angel Rodriguez greeted the handful of fans who turned out to send them off.
"I'm sure when it's all said and done, we'll look back to it and, you know, truly say, 'Man, we did something that nobody has done in school,'" the guard said. "But at the end of the day the ultimate goal is to win a championship."
Rodriguez has coolly led the Canes to victories over Buffalo and Wichita State.
Thursday night, UM hopes to find more March magic against Villanova, a team with powerhouse credentials.
A win would send the Hurricanes to the Elite Eight for the first time.
But the coach just wants his team to stay in the moment.
"They only get a chance once in a while to experience this," Larranaga said. "This is the last time for our seniors to have a shot at trying to win a Sweet 16 game and move on in the NCAA tournament."
The Canes game against Villanova tips off at 7:10 p.m. Thursday night right here on CBS4.
To keep his team loose before this big game, Larranaga has a plan.
He said the team will play baseball… inside the team hotel.
