Canes Football Loses Brennan Carroll to Seattle Seahawks

Brennan Carroll is leaving the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff to team up with his father and become a Seattle Seahawk.

Miami's 35-year-old wide receivers coach and national recruiting coordinator is joining Pete Carroll's staff, reported first by Peter Ariz of CanesInSight. The report was confirmed minutes later by Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman and WQAM's Adam Kuperstein.

Carroll joins Jethro Franklin as the second Miami assistant to leave the program for the NFL in less than a week. Franklin was plucked by the Raiders on Friday after serving as Miami's defensive line coach last season.

A fixture of Al Golden's Miami staff from the beginning, Carroll was instrumental in recruiting the west coast, having also coached under his father at USC from 2004 to 2009.

Kuperstein notes former Canes receiver and current assistant Kevin Beard is expected to coach the receivers.

Below are statements from Carroll and Golden, released from the University of Miami.

"Coaching at the professional level has been a life-long dream of mine," Carroll said. "I am proud of what our players were able to accomplish in my four years here at the University of Miami. I would like to thank coach (Al) Golden for the wonderful opportunity he provided my family and me. I know the future is bright for the Hurricanes!"

"This is such a wonderful opportunity for Brennan and his family to be reunited with his brother and father in Seattle," said head coach Al Golden. "I know it has been a goal of Brennan's to enter the NFL and to do so with his father and the Seahawks make this all the more special. We wish Brennan, Amber and their children nothing but the best and we sincerely thank them for what they have brought to Miami over the last four years."
