Bus Carrying UVA Baseball Team Crashes After Driver Falls Unconscious

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A bus carrying the University of Virginia baseball team to their series against the Miami Hurricanes crashed into several cars Thursday after the driver fell unconscious.

Miami Fire Rescue said the accident happened just east of US 1 and Bird Avenue after 6 p.m.

A very alert coach and his staff jumped into action and tried to gain control of the bus.

The bus ended up crashing into three parked vehicles and a motor scooter on the side of the road before stopping next to a tree.

Coaching staff began doing CPR until fire rescue arrived.

The driver was taken in serious condition to Mercy Hospital. It is still unknown what caused the driver to go unconscious.

There were no reported injuries.
