Broward County, Salvation Army Offering Homeless Warm Places To Stay
FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – With temperatures forecast to plunge into the mid-40s overnight, Broward's Salvation Army is preparing to give the homeless a warm, safe place to stay.
The agency said they will open the doors of their shelter, at 1445 W Broward Boulevard, to any homeless person who needs a place to stay during the cold snap.
Food and hot beverages will be served.
"No one will be turned away," said Captain Luis Viera, Area Commander.
On a normal night, the Salvation Army provides shelter for 160 people.
Viera said anyone who would like to help out can make a financial donation.

Broward County has issued a cold weather advisory for Monday evening. Homeless persons are advised to report to the following pickup and/or shelter locations no later than 6:30 P.M. on Monday night for transportation or access to special cold-night shelters:

While the lows will be in 40s Monday night going into Tuesday morning, CBS4 meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez said when you factor in the wind, which will be wind cranking out the north from 20 mph to 25 mph, it will feel like the 30s for many.
But thankfully it won't last.
Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid-60s.
By Tuesday night into Wednesday lows will be in the 50s. Highs on Wednesday will rebound to the low 70s with some passing showers. And by Thursday morning, lows will be in the upper 60s and highs in the upper 70s. Friday the warming trend continues with highs back in the low 80s and some scattered showers.
