Bowen: Guys Like J.R. Smith "Do The Game Such a Disservice"

Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith made some eyes roll last week when he talked about how Cleveland is the best fit for him because there are less distractions than when he played in New York.

"I think this is the best situation for me, 'cause there's nothing but basketball," Smith told NBA.com. "There's nothing you expect but basketball. There's nothing, there's no going out, there's no late nights. There's video games, basketball and basketball."

Bruce Bowen joined The Joe Rose Show this morning, calling out Smith for disrespecting the NBA.

"Man, how do you even say something like that? I don't get it," Bowen said on WQAM. "Guys like that do the game such a disservice because they don't truly love the game. They love what the game can do for them.

"Look at Alonzo Mourning, look at Keith Askins. Those guys love the game."

While Smith's scoring is up slightly in Cleveland (10.9 to 13.4 PPG), his dwindling offensive efficiency has remained, shooting just 40 percent from the field and 36 percent from behind the arc despite elite talent around him in LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love.
