Bonaduce: 'This Is The Best Thing That Could Have Happened' To Bieber

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (CBS Miami/AP) — Pop star Justin Bieber appears to be heading to a South Florida jail after being arrested on drag-racing and DUI charges on a residential Miami Beach Street.

Television footage early Thursday showed a van believed to be carrying the pop star from a Miami Beach police station to a Miami-Dade County jail. The van was trailed by squad cars. After the van left the station, police said Bieber was gone.

Police say Bieber and an R&B singer known as Khalil were arrested early Thursday.

According to police, Bieber was driving a Lamborghini and Khalil was driving a Ferrari.

Sgt. Bobby Hernandez says Bieber failed a field sobriety test. Bieber and Khalil both face drag-racing and driving under the influence charges.

Danny Bonaduce, former child star from "The Partridge Family" and who has himself had trouble with the law, said this arrest could be the best thing that happened to the pop superstar.

"This is the best thing that could have happened to him," Bonaduce said on his radio morning show on Seattle's KZOK-FM. "Speaking from personal experience, this (arrest) could save his life."

"He's completely out of control, he's not learning," he said.

Roots drummer Questlove had a tongue-in-cheek reaction to Bieber's arrest.

"FREE POLITICAL PRISONER JUSTIN DREW BIEBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" he tweeted.
