Body found in canal in North Miami Beach

Woman's body found in canal

MIAMI – A female body was found floating in a North Miami Beach canal on Monday, police say.

Police say they had patrols out in the area Monday morning around 7:50 a.m. and were flagged down by people who were yelling that a body was floating in Snake Creek.

First responders arrived on scene at South Glades Road and 15th Avenue. They used a buoy to bring the body over to the bank of Snake Creek canal.

Investigators have not yet identified the woman, and they say they're not sure how long she had been in the water.

While there are no obvious signs of foul play, police say they are treating this as a death investigation.

The area where the body was found is a very popular place for residents who walk and bike the path along the canal.
