Body found floating in Fort Lauderdale New River

FORT LAUDERDALE - A body was found floating in the New River last weekend, Fort Lauderdale authorities said Monday.

At 4:47 p.m. Sunday, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and Fort Lauderdale police officers responded to the 800 block of SE Fourth Street in reference to body found in the water.

The body was retrieved and the person was pronounced deceased by fire rescue.

Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the location. 

FLPD received calls earlier in the day regarding a body in the water in the 300 block of South Andrews Avenue and it is believed to be the same body. There were no apparent signs of foul play and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
