MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- Former President Bill Clinton was in South Florida courting black and Jewish voters ahead of early voting.
He made stops at large churches and a Jewish center.
"This election is close. It's been an unusual election. More bitter, more angry, more divisive than any of them that I can remember," said Clinton.
Clinton made three stops in South Florida as he campaigned for his wife ahead of early voting in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties.
The former president spoke to voters at New Birth Baptist Church near Opa-Locka, The Fountain of New Life in Miami Gardens and Pembroke Pines Century Village Jewish Center. He reminded the hundreds of people on hand the importance of casting their ballots.
"You should be a part of this. Just as it was history-making to have the first African-American president, it would be history-making to have the first woman president," he said.
With Florida being a hotly-contested battleground state, Clinton said America needs a leader that will unify the nation, not divide it.
"This is about choosing answers over anger, about choosing empowerment over resentment, about choosing cooperation over endless conflict," said the 42nd commander-in-chief. "And in the end, it's about approaching our neighbors within our communities and our country and beyond the world with bridges not walls."
Early voting locations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through November 6th. Polls open in Monroe County from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November 5th.
